Pre exam prep period: January for approx 10 weeks.
In Textiles GCSE, students will explore a range of materials, techniques and processes
whilst developing their contextual knowledge and critical understanding. Students will
develop their knowledge of contemporary and traditional textiles designers, using a
wide range of materials and refine their skills, producing pieces that are relevant and
personal to them. They will create several textiles artefacts and a portfolio of work that
is individual to them. By working in this way, students will improve their practical and
theory skills and develop into conscientious young designers. Textiles at GCSE can be a
gateway into many creative careers including Fashion or Textiles design, interior
designer, fashion stylist, retail buyer/manager/visual merchandiser, magazine
journalist/editor or advertising creative director
Final Examination: April: 10hr examination
