Examination
Information
Performing
(30%)
Students will perform a minimum of two pieces, one of which must
be an ensemble performance of at least one-minute duration. The
other piece(s) may be either solo and/or ensemble. The total
performance time must be between 4 and 6 minutes in length and
must be recorded during Year 11. One of the pieces must link to an
area of study of the learner9s choice. The performances will be
recorded and assessed by the teacher and moderated by the exam
board.
Composing and
Arranging (30%)
Students must write two compositions, one of which must be in
response to a brief set by the exam board. The second composition
is a free composition for which students set their own brief. The
compositions must add up to between 3 and 6 minutes in total and
must be completed in Year 11. The compositions will be recorded
and assessed by the teacher and moderated by the exam board.
Listening and
Appraising
(40%)
The listening examination is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes
in length and consists of eight questions in total, two on each of the
four areas of study.
