Choosing Subjects
Things to Remember
1. Students should choose subjects that they enjoy and in which they feel confident they can be
successful. They should not choose subjects solely because they like the teacher, or because their
friends are taking them.
2. Students should never assume that they know which subjects are required for a career. They should
check by using Unifrog, the library and university/career websites to find the most up to date
information and ask their Head of Year, Form Tutor or Head of Careers for help.
3. Students should talk about the subjects they want to study with the people who can help, including
current Year 10 and 11 students, their class teachers and the Careers Advisor.
4. Students should not think that because of their gender they shouldn9t do certain subjects.
5. Students should talk through their ideas and concerns with their Parents/Carers.
6. Students will shortly be introduced to Unifrog, our futures and careers platform. Students will be
able to continue using this for several years after leaving RMS.
