Robert May’s School
Day to Day
First Aid
First Aid is located in the Student Centre. It is open daily during break times for nonemergencies and students may attend without a permission slip. Unless students are
receiving treatment or are waiting to be collected by a parent/carer, they will be asked
to return to class at the end of break.
Students who become too unwell during a lesson to continue will need to be issued
with a permission slip by their teacher before being sent to First Aid.
Please note, if a student needs to be sent home the Parent/Carer will be contacted by
a member of staff. Students must not contact Parents/Carers via mobile phone to
request collection from school.
Student Wellbeing
At Robert May’s School we recognise that positive mental health and wellbeing are
essential to the development of thriving and successful students. It is therefore vital to
our aims as an organisation that we provide high quality mental health and wellbeing
support. Students have access to a cohesive network of pastoral and medical services:
• Our pastoral team
• The First Aid room, which is open from 8.25am to 2.55pm
• Appointments with our ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant)
• Appointments with the School Counsellor
• Wellbeing Ambassadors who are trained to support their peers
The school also works closely with external agencies who students can be referred to
for support during or outside of the school day.
School Transport
School transport is not organised by Robert May’s School. If a student is eligible for
transport to and from school, the parent/carer needs to apply for a bus pass directly
through the Home to School Transport Team at Hampshire County Council.
Information on applying can be found here. Parents/Carers will receive an email through
the online portal confirming the outcome of their application. As school transport is not
organised by the school, Robert May’s is unable to advise when bus passes will be sent.
Please contact Hampshire County Council directly on 01962 846924.
Mortons operate a privately-funded transport service for those students from
Basingstoke and the surrounding areas. Further information on this service can be
obtained by calling 01256 633183.
